I started with hot pink wire that I wove by hand into a sturdy but pretty and modern Viking knit bracelet. Just as in ancient times each bend, loop and curve of the wire is completely woven by hand, using a seven petal design.

I added shimmering blue dichroic lampwork beads. Each one has hints of pink and silver peeking out from the center of the orbs, to capture the imagination. Silver accents and a handmade clasp complete the piece.

Lampwork beads can be cleaned with a mild soap. They should be handled with care as they are glass beads, even though the creation process creates a stronger glass.
Care of Parawire is explained in our policies.

Dichroic lampwork is created in a breath of focused flame, and then kiln fired to complete the annealing process. This creates a much stronger glass. Dichroic is the term used with lampwork glass beads when silver or gold filament is added during the initial creation process.

I found these lovely blue lampwork beads with hints of pink encased inside against a backdrop of silver foil. My intent was to create a piece that would pull out those pink highlights, without drowning the overall look of the beads.

What I ended up with is a very modern look paired with the ancient art of Viking knit. Most people associate Viking knit with Renaissance fairs.
