Original, not a print.
It started as a pencil drawing which I then inked over in black and painted the colors on in ink mixed with water. I marbled a piece of watercolor paper with black oil paint to emulate a stormy sky, then selected the coolest pattern to fit with the feel of the piece. The inked drawing was cut out from its original background and they were pasted together with rubber cement. There was a knotwork pattern on her staff but it didn't hold up under the gold leafing that I put on - it still shows through faintly.I had an ink blotch in the middle of her torso in the belt area which was covered over adequately I think, just thought it was important to point that out. It has a few small tears around the edges but lots of frame-able content that is not affected.
Now's your chance to own a vibrant piece of original artwork!
Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
This picture was an assignment from my second year of art school. We were told to find a picture that inspired us, and using inks copy the bottom half to master the technique and make up our own top half - Mine is based on Arthur Rackham's illustration of the Undine, and I think the coloring and concept of more of a sorceress-type figure was inspired by Amano's work on final fantasy 10.
