Each color on the inner border has a bead of that color and a quilted line connecting it to the same color on one of the small rainbow squares. Places where the colored lines cross have a clear bead, representing the prism that splits the white light into the rainbow colors. The background squares are large pinwheels made of white and cream.

The photo with the green background shows what the quilt looks like when there is light coming through from behind it.

This quilt started as a 4" x 4" pinwheel square, but instead of 2 alternating colors, there are 8 colors arranged in rainbow order. Then I envisioned the small rainbow pinwheels nestled inside larger pinwheels made of alternating white and off-white triangles. As described above, the quilting lines are done in all of the rainbow colors and connect the smaller squares with the inner border. I spent a lot of time planning this out so that each border color would have one quilt line and so all the lines would not end up in the same place.
