Why do these earings sparkle so? It is the rhinestone called aurora borelis and have you ever wondered what that really is besides a pretty name? They are:

"Stones or beads coated with an iridescent finish that shines rainbow colors. Aurora borelis means northern lights. This coating technique began in 1955." (From VINTAGE COSTUME JEWELRY GLOSSARY, Annie Sherman)

They are lovely and highly collectible. They do sparkle like the northern lights.

They are light weight, very good condtion and about 1 1/2 inch in circumference.
