A handmade 24-inch Norse cascade necklace created with a variety of colorful glass beads in a variety of sizes and shapes. This colorful blend is an array of red and yellow combined with complimentary black and white.

Both ends of this handmade one-of-a-kind beaded strand include a small split ring that can be attached to shoulder brooches to be worn in traditional Norse fashion or attached to each other to wear as a contemporary necklace around the neck.

Beaded Norse cascade necklaces (also known as a treasure necklaces) were a form of status symbol and "wearable wealth" worn by Norse women in the Viking era.

Glass beads, especially glass beads of rare styles and vibrant colors, were highly valued and often gathered through local artistry, passed down to one's younger relatives, gathered up during raids and eagerly purchased at great market towns.

Such necklaces were made up of a variety of beads strung together in a colorful display of wealth and status to be worn by women suspended by shoulder brooches. They have been found in Norse graves and hordes from Great Britain to Denmark.
