Frosted glass and glazed ceramic beads combine in this handmade necklace created to enhance and decorate a woman's historical reenactment attire of the Viking era.

This 26-inches (66 cm) necklace can be worn in the traditional fashion, suspended between two shoulder brooches, or it can be worn around the neck in a more contemporary style by attaching the two ends together at the nape.

In the Viking era, glass beads of rare styles and vibrant colors were highly valued by the Norse and often gathered through local artistry, passed down to one's younger relatives, gathered up during raids and eagerly purchased at great market towns.

Such necklaces were made up of a variety of beads strung together in a colorful display of wealth and status to be worn by women suspended by shoulder brooches. They have been found in Norse graves and hordes from Great Britain to Denmark.
