Black African Krobo Beaded Bracelet

Product Description
Black African Krobo beads accented with Krobo recycled glass rondelles and onyx rondelles create this fun to wear bracelet which has been finished with a genuine copper clasp.

This bracelet is approximately 8" in length and can be worn loosely on a smaller wrist. The bracelet is light to wear.

Recycled glass is ground up in a large mortar and pestle to create Krobo Beads. They are fired using traditional techniques in open-sided, thatch-roofed huts. After the original bead is fired, it is cooled and washed. Using a twig as a brush, the bead maker begins the process of painting his highly individualized designs. After each color is applied, the beads are re-fired. These beads can have as many as five or six different colors on them requiring that many firings.

The Krobo beads used in this bracelet can be found at http://www.soulofsomanya.net. This great non-profit charity teaches young people of Samanya, Ghana, West Africa a trade.
