Product Description
This Diddley Bow is a fully working instrument that is scaled down in length. This instrument measures 23" long and has a red cedar neck with red cedar bridge, nut, fingerboard and feet. This is a beautiful sounding diddley bow that carries a full octave. It uses a guitar string, coffee can resonator and glass resonator jar.

A handmade striker is included. The slide bottle is not included. You can purchase a metal or glass slide at your local music store or online. You can also find a suitable slide bottle at your local pharmacy. Online I recommend musiciansfriend.com

You can view a video demonstration of this instrument on my YouTube channel at

This diddley bow was stained and finished to resemble an aged vintage instrument. It is actually a replica of how didley bows were made long ago with the exception of the string.

The Homesteader design diddley bows are made to play either sitting on a table/stand or while sitting being held between the knees or sitting across your legs. This fun to play instrument and is quite addictive once you start.

This Diddley Bow is premade and is ready for immediate shipment. It will be shipped via USPS PARCEL POST due to package size and weight.

I am very proud to add a new traditional folk instrument to the Kazoo Factory catalog. The Aswego Diddley Bow. This is an old traditional African American folk/blues instrument found throughout the south for the past hundred years or more.

There are many shapes, sizes and designs of Diddley Bows. The selection of construction materials is endless and is only restricted by your imagination. The first Diddley Bow I ever saw used a piece of pine 2x4, a canning jar, some broome wire, a big tin can and a couple nails. It was played with an old medicine bottle and a oak stick.

Aswego Diddley Bows are a shorter design at 23" long and 8" high to the top of the resonator can. Instead of broom wire I use guitar strings ranging from low E to D when I ship to you. Strings can be easily changed by the new owner to their choice or to experiment with the sound. I do not recommend using broom wire as it is easy to apply too much tension with this wire and result in breaking the glass resonator jar. Guitar strings sound better and are safer to use.

NOT FOR CHILDREN
This Diddley Bow is not safe for children. It is not a children's toy. This is a traitional primitive design folk instrument. The glass resonator jar and metal coffee can cause personal injury. String replacement should only be accomplished by a grownup.

The Aswego Wooden kazoo is a quality folk instrument and beautiful example of contemporary American folk art. Every Aswego kazoo is a unique folk instrument. No two are exactly the same. They are made from local woods. Some woods are gathered in the wild and worked without milling. Other native woods are milled at my local sawmill.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
Last year I made a larger diddley bow that is now in Lincolnshire England with a happy owner. This is a new design that is 3/4 length of my original diddley bow. I wanted one that I could play while sitting with the bow across my legs as well as placing it on a stand or table.
Materials Used
