Hand built ceramic leaf mask wall hanging Green Man

$1,175.00
Quantity: 1 available
Product Description
This ceramic mask is handbuilt from earthenware clay using an actual zucchini leaf from my garden. As with all of my leaf work, I roll actual leaves into wet clay and trim around them. The leaves burn off in the kiln leaving their unique impression.

The mask is finished in an amber/maroon with a satin brown stained background.

It is approx. 9" tall by 8" wide.

A picture hanging wire is attached to the back of the mask for easy hanging.

I've uploaded 10 images to show the mask from all angles. Please check them all out.
Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
This mask is the first one I've ever made and was sculpted for the Masquerade Clay Ball event between the Polymer Clay Smooshers Guild and ClayFire--The Mud Potters Guild. You can read more about it here: http://polymerclaysmooshers.blogspot.com/2009/10/october-happenings-for-pcsg.html

A Green Man is a sculpture, drawing, or other representation of a face surrounded by or made from leaves. Commonly used as a decorative architectural ornament, Green Men are frequently found on carvings in churches and other buildings. The Green Man is interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, or "renaissance," representing the cycle of growth each spring.
