Each pen comes with black ink in a medium point but can be easily replaced with the instructions that are included with your order. This listing is for one polymer clay covered pen with matching stand. The notepad shown in the picture is for visual interest only. The matching stand serves the dual purpose of displaying your pen on your desktop and protecting the "ball" of your ball point when you replace the ink cartridge.

Each polymer clay pen is crafted by hand using a combination of marbled clay as a background and polymer clay "canes" which are made by hand in my studio. There is NO paint used in covering these pens, although a gloss sealer is added to protect and enhance the design.

Polymer clay canes are based on milifiori, a glassworking technique where glass rods are combined in patterns and fused then sliced to make many beads with the same design. Polymer clay canes are made in the same way by arranging logs of clay in patterns then filling in the gaps with translucent clay to create a round, square or triangular "cane". The canes are very thinly sliced and applied to a marbled or solid background clay to create the beautiful pattern you see on the pens pictured. The pen body is baked to cure the clay, then sanded to a smooth finish and buffed to a satin finish before a glossy protective coating is applied. At this point the ink cartridge is reinserted into the pen body and packaged for gift giving.
