* BRING YOUR OWN SUNSHINE Dichroic Glass pendant is made up of three layers of dichroic glass fused together in my kiln. Penny shown for dimension.

* Dichroic glass was developed in Germany over 100 years ago. It was first created for the space & laser industries, & was developed extensively by NASA. Dichroic glass is an efect observed in certain crystalline materials in which different colors are seen when the crystals or metals are viewed in different directions. Dichroic glass is very expensive due to the process in making it. The glass is meticulously cleaned. Even a speck of dust can mar the coating. That is why I put a clear coat over the pendant to protect it. The glass is coated with up to 20 extremely thin layers of different metals; like titanium, magnesium, zirconium, aluminum, chromium, tin, or selenium; to name a few. The elements are evaporated & vacuum deposited onto the glass so wavelengths of light will pass through & others will be reflected. Enjoy!
