This black and gold hemp rune pouch is crocheted with kauri shells as ties.

The pouch consists of 24 unmarked rune stones, gathered from a local river bed. I have left them unmarked because an important part of rune-working is to have some part in creating your own runes. This way you can put your own rune markings on them.

I recommend Freya Aswynn's book Northern Mysteries and Magik for more information on runes and the meanings of the runes.

Using a sharpie is probably the best way to write the runes on the stones, unless you are really good with the paint brush--which I am not!

We were camping last year in the Olympic mountains and found a wonderful bunch of rune stones. I have been using the runes more and more myself over the last year and it has been really nice getting to know my own heritage finally! I find the runes to be much better, more affordable and more practical than a session with a psychotherapist.
