Handwoven silk scarf - Fibonacci series

$185.00
Quantity: 1 available
Product Description
This scarf uses 4 different colors throughout the fabric. There are two shades of purple, a grey, and a sea-foam green in here - I had several weaving shuttles going back and forth and quite a bit of counting to keep the stripes perfectly even! The effect is wonderful, and the scarf will give you years of enjoyment.

The scarf was made with yarns dyed by the independent dyer, Redfish Dyeworks. The lace weave of the scarf combines with all the wonderful characteristics of silk to create fabric with amazing drape and vibrant colors.

Scarf dimensions: 76"x10.5"

As a handmade product, please expect some variation in the cloth. It should be hand washed or washed on "delicate" with like-colors as colors may bleed slightly in hot water. Press with a warm (not super hot!) iron or steam.
Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
I wove this scarf in my studio with the intention of exploring a structured way to do interesting stripes. A Fibonacci series is a mathematical progression that has each number in the progression being the sum of the previous two (1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21...). This pattern occurs often in nature, in the progression of sunflower seeds and in many other pleasing-to-the-eye patterns. In order to bring that pattern to this fabric, I wove 1 throw of one color, 1 throw of the next, 2 throws of the first, 3 throws of the next, 5 throws of the first, and so on until the color blocks were of a size that I just went with a single color for a few inches. The scarf is beautiful, light, comfortable, and a great conversation piece all in one!
