A Book of Kells inspired Celtic design etched on an art glass coaster. This measures 4" x 4" x 3/16" thick clear glass with a polished edge. It has rubber-padded feet that can be removed if desired. The 3d effect is created with different sandblasting techniques and utilizing two surfaces. On the back it is carved and shaded from the center circle and the 3rd ring. The front side is then frosted on the 2nd ring and the outside border.

Etched glass such as these drink coasters is best viewed against a solid dark background or if it is edge lit on a base or frame. The light brings a particular glow to the etching that captures and bends to create a sharp, contrasting visual.

Three are in stock but more can be made to order within a week lead time. The designs are the same, but they are individually hand blasted keeping them each its own piece. This is an art piece that can be functional as a coaster. Though it is fairly sturdy, please keep in mind the use of material is glass and can be scratched or broken just as easily without proper care.

Celtic designs have always been an interest to me partly because of my ancestral roots and also from the intricacy and symbolism in it's style.

This design is based on images from the Book of Kells. It has a Pictish spiral in the center and key patterns around it.
