Sweetgrass braids are often burned at the beginning of a prayer or ceremony to attract positive energies.Native Americans use sweetgrass in prayer, to smudge or purify people, articles, and/or areas. Sweetgrass is considered a sacred plant and is usually braided, dried, and burned.

Sweetgrass braids smolder and do not produce an open flame when burned. The sweet aroma of this natural grass is attractive and pleasing to people, so is it also attractive to good spirits.

Average braid length = 26" from root to tip.

Common names for Sweetgrass are Holy Grass (or Mary's Grass), Vanilla Grass, Bluejoint, Buffalo Grass, and Zebrovka.
