Lumen Print: 2 Calla Lilies.
The "ghosting" effect of the tops of the lilies is from their drying in the sun during the 3 hour exposure, thus shriveling and becoming less opaque.

This is a giclee reproduction, matted with museum grade 8-ply alpharag and framed with a classic wooden frame and non-glare framing acrylic.

Lumen Prints are a unique alternative photographic process - a piece of photo paper is topped with an object, usually organic, and a piece of glass, and left in the sun. No chemicals are added, but the accumulation of UV light eventually (between hours and months) creates an image on the paper, which must then be removed from the light or the image will change/fade. For my 2010 SofoBomo project, I did a large number of lumen prints, some with the supervision of my young daughters, who found it fascinating. The originals must live in a dark storage box, but I rephotographed them so I could provide prints of these strange beauties.
