This necklace is made of red/black agate beads with gold-filled round beads and vermeil bali spacers. The pendant is a round red and black agate wrapped with gold-filled wire. The center of the pendant is red agate and the outside is black. It kind of reminds me of a port hole on a ship. The necklace is strung on 49-strand beading cable with wire guardians at the ends to help prevent wear and closes with a lobster clasp. The necklace is almost 18 inches (45.5cm) in length and the pendant is 1-1/2 inches (40mm) from the top of the bail and is 1 inch (25mm) wide.

Agate is well known for balancing the subtle energies. It is said to assist with protection, (especially of children) impart courage and help with healing. Agate is thought to enhance creativity and is used by student and artists. It's said to increase energy in bursts, and so may be used when a big 'push' is needed. In ages past, people put agate in their drinking water to dispel sickness.
