St. Lucy Good Luck Necklace Eye of Shiva Sterling Silver

Product Description
The Eye of Shiva shell is considered to be a lucky charm from the Mediterranean waters of Corsica. My inspiration for this piece came from my trip to Corsica where I handpicked the Shiva shells and learned about the legend.

The hand-forged sterling silver oval measures 1-1/4" x ¾" including the bail and hangs from a 16" chain. I gave the oval a textured finish to represent sand and added a wavy silver wire for the ocean waves. The Eye of Shiva shell was bezel set. The necklace comes on a card with the history and legend printed on it. If you would prefer an 18" chain, please let me know and I will be happy to make the change.

History and Legend

The Eye of St. Lucy, also known as Eye of Shiva, is the name given by fishermen to the operculum of a sea snail found in the Mediterranean waters of Corsica. It is considered to ward off the evil eye and bring luck and happiness, as well as good fortune.

There are many stories about St. Lucy. She is the Mother of Light who bestowed the gifts of light, enlightenment, and eyesight. The Corsican Eye of St. Lucy is still felt to be such a protection, especially for eyesight.
