If you're looking for a special gift for someone that collects teapots, or loves fishes, or has a special place in their heart for absolute whimsy, here's your gift. I have a habit of making my last teapot my very favorite. This girl is no exception. I love this piece with a capital L. She's based on the swarthy parrotfish.

Made from soft earthenware clay, I throw the ring and base on the potter's wheel and then go to work adding handbuilt embellishments that bring her to life. To add a bit of fantasy to this gal I've added long flirtatious eyelashes made of high temperature wire, her lips have been plumped and rouged, she's wearing clay stamped earrings... or finrings, and her dorsal fins are accessoriesed with color coordinated beads that I made and wire. The whole process from start to finish takes about 5 weeks. As with all of my decorative teapots, this girl isn't practical to actually use. Because of her plump lips, she's a bit of a drooler. But if you want to spoof your friends at your next tea party, bring her out!
