Product Description
Wonderful Rare Example of a Georgian Era Bilston Enamel Locket Circa 1800.

This lovely Antique Locket measures an impressive 50mms x 32mms including the bail and features a large Oval Vignette of a Sweet Faced Regency Lady in an Empire Line Dress with Poke Bonnet Straight out of a Jane Austen Novel!!

The Enamel Portrait is Utterly Charming, naive and simple but full of feeling the lady glancing demurely from under her bonnet with a wistful expression on her face.
Typical of Enamels made in the Georgian Era most likely Bilston in origin. The use of Rose pink was favoured by the Bilston Artists. The reverse of the locket has a glass compartment japanned interior for a keepsake or memento. The locket snaps shut securely.

The main body of the locket is made from Pinchbeck an early metal alloy used in place of gold that has the lovely warm colour of Antique Gold.
The locket is shown displayed on Gold Filled (plated) chain this will be included with the locket.

*Listing is for Locket & Chain only, any other box, bust, display prop shown for ambiance only. A Quality New Gift Box will be provided
