I saw an L-shaped shawl in a picture somewhere; and the next thing I knew, they were sprouting off my hook. :P So this is my variation on someone else's idea, and I've made quite a few in different colors and yarn types.

This particular one is made with worsted weight acrylic in doe tan and white. It's crocheted, with the back being a large granny square and the extensions being what are called "shells" in crochet lingo. At the three bottom corners are tassels made of chains of the yarn, and at the front corners are ties you can secure if you wish. Tied or not, the piece stays put atop shoulders and is very comfortable while warming. The ties make it more like a vest, and that's why I added them.

Even though this can be worn as a vest, since it's a shawl rather than a structured piece, it will fit anyone from small to extra large.

It's very suitable for office attire to casual to evening, just not formal. It's as easy to care for as it is to wear -- just toss into the washer and dryer, and it will emerge looking new for years to come. It's also suitable for year round use, even in the mid Summer when the evenings are chilly.
