Product Description

Pincushions may seem very ordinary, but they have a history.  In Victorian times they were used mostly for home decor.  They were the usual gift when one went calling on a friend.  The more elaborate, the closer you were (or wanted to be) to the lady.  These were mostly handmade and they stuffed them with many things like sawdust and bran although the bran was done away with because of mice. Women were also known to cut the hair of a dearly departed to stuff them with so they would always have that person close.  These are made of recycled cans and leftover scraps. You get one pincushion of your choice.  The pink and green hat with the butterfly is the mayors wife's hat.  the yellow is the shopkeepers wifes hat.  Not pictured is a burgandy country pattern.  It belongs to the school marm.  I'll post a picture soon.
