This pattern is for a cute tawashi scrubber made of cotton yarn and nylon tulle. One side of the fish is all cotton for gentle cleaning, while the other has a center made of nylon tulle for those rough spots. Each is approximately 5.5 inches/14 cm long. I put a loop at the top to conveniently hang them to dry.



Stitches required for the pattern are sl st, sc, and hdc.



These may be used for cleaning you, your dishes, your bathroom, or anything else you think needs a good scrub. Just throw them in the washing machine when they are dirty and take them out to air dry; then they are ready for whatever cleaning job you have next.

I started out with flower coasters which someone suggested be made into tawashi. I discovered what tawashi were and then decided to come up with a new pattern. My husband suggested the next one be larger than the flowers I do, so I made a larger circle and decided to make some fish. The "Red Fish, Blue Fish" set were inspired by a famous children's book that my kids really like.
