La Garde Republicaine - Michel Delacroix - charming Paris Lithograph

Quantity: 1 available
Product Description
This charming historical scene in Paris depicts an armed guard on horseback parading down the cobblestone street of Paris. The colorful lithograph by Michel Delacroix describes only the splendor of the era rather than the struggle that the Parisian working class were experiencing at the time of WWI. He draws from his recollections as a child, as well as the stories told to him by his nanny about the time before the war, where clothes hang from the balconies and flags flew over the sidewalks, and shopkeepers saying hello to the passers-by. The tall apartment buildings with shops below are colored with subdued blues and reds, shades of gray and white. The figures, including children and dogs, create a quaint city scene that takes you back to a beautiful moment. This would be a lovely work of art to display and comes as a signed pair with "Hotel Bellevue," which you will find on this site. They are both framed with a beautiful linen lined and gold frame which enhances the piece, along with 3 inches of a wine colored mat and a ˝ inch of beige.

This sophisticated and unique piece, as well as its counterpart, "Hotel Bellevue," is offered here for an exceptional price. They measure 27X33 in., are of tremendous caliber that would be a lovely addition to any art collection or home/office décor, and sure to appreciate in value.
