Product Description
Old-fashioned naked light bulbs illuminate the golden-green ceiling of the vintage trolley in this 5x7 documentary photo. The weathered wooden window frame with its cracking white paint framing the scene within the old streetcar attest to a busy "life" on the streets of a busy city, ferrying passengers back and forth.

Looking up into the trolley, the scene behind those wooden panes is left soft but easily recognizable in the photograph. Red trim travels along and across the green ceiling; hang straps dangle from a dark pipe. We can just see the very tops of advertisements that lined both sides of the streetcar, something for passengers to ponder when the scenery just outside the windows just below the ads was too dull or too familiar to look upon again. Bare Edison lightbulbs stud the ceiling, warm halos of greenish-gold spreading out from their center.

I'm not sure how much restoration the vintage trolley in this photo has seen; though obviously lovely inside, the exterior either needs a little affection or is being left this way for the sake of authenticity--not that it looks bad at all. The white wooden pane frames soar up toward the top of the photo's frame; the trim is chipped and cracked a bit, and settled into the woodgrain in other places, but this is one of those cases where restoring something like this old streetcar to perfection would seem odd.

Much as I love cars, there is something fascinating and even romantic about these old streetcars and trolleys. Old streetcars such as the one I captured in this detail photo brim with charm, and it is all to easy to imagine this one and trolleys like it rattling up and down busy city streets, dinging their bell, as bustling and busy as the passengers they carried. The view taken in this 5x7 photo must be very similar to the one seen by countless predecessors of ours as they went about their daily lives; the only difference is that though the inside of a trolley was likely very mundane to them, to us, it is a special and delightful thing.

This trolley photograph is professionally printed on 5x7 archival-quality photo paper; the actual image measures approximately 4-1/8 by 6-1/4 inches, surrounded by a white border to ease framing and protect the image itself. I sign, date, and number each photo on back prior to mailing it.
