In a reddish brown and buttery yellow, the vintage neon sign perched alongside Route 66 in Missouri trumpets its temptation of freshly made donuts in this 8x10 art photograph. Sure-to-be flaky and delicious chocolate (covered?) brown neon donuts dance along the old sign's golden edge. I especially like the old-fashioned "do-nuts".

Yes, we did stop for donuts--this shop is a Route 66 icon plus a local business, AND Alton Brown ate here. Why go for Dunkin'? The doughnuts were DELICIOUS. Soft and sweet and flaky and light. So when you see this sign as you're tooling around Missouri, just trust me and pull over for a half-dozen or so. After all, we only live once!
