Its hood open behind the weathered V8 badge, this orange hot rod Ford almost has the appearance of a bird of prey in this 8x10 classic car art photo. The years have been good to this 1935 auto; there are a few spots and pits on the orange paint, a bit of wear on the chrome, but some of us prefer to call that "patina".

The combination of the coupe's shining tangerine contrasting with the truly time-honoured, royal blue "Ford" badge on its nose are downright cheerful, making this vintage Ford fine art photo a stylish way to enliven any room. The classic car's open split hood on either side of the fab, beautifully designed "V8" badge are reminiscent of eagle's wings.

Ford's V8 badge is one of those perfectly timless things. The typeface, the arrangement-the way the round "8" nestles into that sweeping, dynamic "V". It's one of the finest badges and logos ever, in my opinion-ask your favourite graphic designer what they think. Regardless, you'll see it quite a bit throughout my vintage car photography-I'm a big fan of its simple smartness.

This old orange Ford is ready to take off, so watch out, street racers!
