Stunning Marion Donaldson maxi dress in a funky patterned pink and purple fabric. A real belle of the ball outfit!

The fabric is woven, and heavyweight, and I think it's wool but there is no fabric label to say for sure. But she was partial to using wool as well as Liberty prints.

Circa early 1970s with her signature art deco label.

Dress is an empire line cut with short puff sleeves and darts at the back and front of the bodice. Back metal zip.

Inside the neckline is a yolk of purple lining - the rest of the dress is unlined.

Marion Donaldson was a Scottish designer from Glasgow and widely credited as bringing the essence of Carnaby Street fashion and the swinging 60s London scene to Glasgow.

Condition is very good other than some fade on the yolk lining.

Size label states a UK12 (US14) to fit hips 36in 91.4cm) and bust 34in (86.4cm) BUT being vintage the cut is narrow - especially across the shoulders and is more like a UK 8 - so please refer to the actual measurements below:

Underarm to underarm: 16in (40.6cm)

Across shoulders: 13in (33 cm)

Across the empire seam ie under bust: 15in (38.1cm)

Length: Shoulder to hem: 52in (132.1cm)
