Product Description
Vintage Chance Brothers Fiestaware glass platter produced in 1965. The pattern is Anemone, which became their most popular pattern, and was a commissioned from eminent glassworker and designer Michael Harris.

A delightful collectible to use as a serving dish, fruit stand or for display. Colorful red, yellow and purple anemones with almost flowing leaves have been silk screen printed onto the back of the oval shaped plate with gold gilding around the edge.

The condition is quite good for a 50 year old plus plate. There is some age related wear to the gilding and some minor scratching to the top surface but you really have to be looking closely to notice these and visually they do not detract from the plate. There is one more obvious scratch just off to the bottom right of the red anemone that can you can see in the last photo. The price reflects this scratch.

Fiestaware was flat-rolled sheet glass which had a silk screen transfer print applied. The glass was then reheated and slumped to form the shape. It was produced in a wide variety of patterns on over 35 different shapes/sizes.

An aesthetic of Chance glass is that it feels quite thin and light but it is in fact quite strong. The company was one of the leading lighthouse, scientific and optical glass producers in the world and among the famous buildings with some of their glass is the White House, Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.

The plate measures 13" ( 31cm) length and is 9.2" (23.5cm) at the widest part.
