Pretty green- blue batik Cherry Blossom Omiyage is portrayed as "flower of the lake". It's certainly the right color--- lake flowers are often blue. Not many other flowers are, tho.

There are six fabrics being used here... The front of the flower is fussy- cut, that is, every piece was cut alone, for the curves of the design on the cloth to go with the design of the petals. There is a white with blue rosebuds print on the backside of the petals... there is a blue paisley making the outside of the gift- place... there is lining fabric in the gift- place, and there is gilded quilting fabric comprising the hems, or bindings. The ribbons are double-faced satin, and the little fabric buttons made as tradition has it, for the ends of the ribbons, are the rosebud fabric of the backsides of the petals repeated.

It is made as well as I know how, and is hand- washable. Everything is cotton except for the lining.

Cutting each omiyage can take as long as 45 minutes. They are machine sewed as far as they can be, what takes anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. They are then hand- sewn together, which usually is about an hour and a half for each one.

An omiyage is a gift to hold a gift. This one's gift pouch is about 2 by 2". It is a unique creation.
