I'm fairly certain that these are made of pigskin, but I could be wrong. The suede is very very soft. They are trimmed at the ties with little brown beads.



They are sewn in a running stitch in the uppers, and the soles are attached with a lockstitch, like a sewing machine does, only by hand with an awl.



The sides are not sewn in because this does two things, one, the shoe will grow a bit with your baby, and, two, it assures that they will fit your baby. This is one of those places in shoe construction that apparently has the most leeway without hampering the performance of the shoe.
