~Miniature Art Print ACEO~



This is a print of a little (3.5 inches x 2.5 inches) Colored Pencil and India Ink painting by me, Melody Lea Lamb.



This print is an ACEO (Art Cards Editions and Originals) a miniature art piece done in the standard trading card size of 3.5 x 2.5 inches. It is printed from my Epson printer with revolutionary Archival Ink on Epson High Quality Paper with a Matte finish. These little prints are rated to last 98 years if framed behind glass or 200 years if kept in an album. This is an open edition of quality prints, each individually signed by the artist (me!) I mail your print in a clear plastic sleeve, between two pieces of clean cardboard and sealed in a zip bag, (just in case it goes through a rain storm on its way to you) :)

My miniatures usually follow the same steps in technique. I start each piece with a very detailed ink drawing using India ink and a technical pen. Then I add a rich ink wash in the background. I begin layer after layer of colored pencil (which is wax based) over the ink drawing. Since the colored pencil is translucent, the ink drawing shows through very slightly. Finally I scratch through in some areas to highlight the texture of fur or hair. The very last step is to add some white acrylic and a bit of ink to strengthen lights and darks. Artists Statement: "When I begin a miniature painting of a particular animal, landscape, or woodland being, I find myself becoming slowly and completely enamored with God's perfect creation. With each stroke I am more in awe of this spirit and throw myself into capturing what inspires me. It's a process filled with heart and my hope is that I can convey at least some of this feeling in each painting I create."
