Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
"TAKEMOTO" series glasses are designed and crafted by Mr. Takemoto himself to invoke the greatest beauty and creativity available in eye glasses anywhere. Takemoto uses only the highest-quality natural materials such as sandalwood, ebony, pear wood, ocean shell, and naturally shed antlers for the frames. Ornamentation includes pearls, gemstones, shell, sterling silver, and exquisite Chinese porcelain. The near magical collaboration of these materials is a first in eyeglass history, ensuring you of a one of a kind masterpiece.
Only a small amount of these hand-crafted glasses are ever produced, ensuring you of exclusivity. Each pair is individualized to the owner with a special code, and the owner's name is engraved inside the frame. Each pair of TAKEMOTO glasses is presented in a high quality wood box evoking the uniqueness of the brand. Specialty cases are also available in natural leathers such as ostrich, salmon, snake, etc. TAKEMOTO glasses come with free lifetime service, maintenance, or replacement if necessary.
"TAKE BY TAKEMOTO" is our environmental series. For customers who prefer sustainable products, Takemoto has developed a line of reading glasses popular throughout American and Europe. Mr. Takemoto makes use of natural bamboo for the frames, and designs all the styles himself. Most of the production process is completed in the production studio by hand, so they cannot be produced in bulk. Affordable and unique, your reading glasses arrive in a signature bamboo box which complements the core design.
In China there is an old adage which says (da zhi ruo yu). Directly translated, it means "a man of great wisdom, but appearing slow-witted." In everyday life, it refers to someone who is modest, and never showing off his aptitude. The special origin and meaning within coincides with the ideals of Mr. Zhuben, and our brand of handmade eye-wear. From this philosophy, "TAKEMOTO" (translated to English) was born.
Zhuben was born in an ordinary peasant family around the Xiang lake which is in Zhejiang, China. There he experienced all the hard work that a country boy should, and became practiced in carpentry and painting. At 12 years old, he began to learn traditional Chinese painting and handwriting, both of which are the quintessence of Chinese culture. Additionally, he studied the poetic musings of a special teacher, and soon compiled a collection of his own poems.
In 1998, he began to study eye-wear, and entered the field which would define his life's work. Apprenticing at an eye glass company, he learned material fabrication technology, and how to assemble, fit, and maintain eye glasses. He became a national senior optometrist, and intermediate optician. In 2001, he left his employer to establish a design studio, thus officially beginning his design career. In 2002, Mr. Zhuben started his retail business, and in 2004, he launched his e-commerce business, selling glasses through the internet. Today, he remains infatuated with eye glasses brand culture.
After 20 years of traditional culture, art and design, and the accumulation of 13 years of eyewear experience, the "TAKEMOTO" brand was born - exemplifying traditional Chinese culture, fashion and design. Business success did not come easy; the road was difficult, and fraught with fatigue. Takemoto would often stay up throughout the night working on bamboo designs, and material process. After months of trial and error, came the "LOVE WOOD" line, followed by "HIKER" and "MEMORY".By 2010, Takemoto had mastered the bamboo production process, and began to study jewelry design for eye-wear. In March 2010, TAKEMOTO attended the international glasses exhibition MIDO in Milan, Italy. The "ANGEL" series was shown for the first time in the international arena, and received much praise. Milan became the trip to go bamboo!
In August of 2010, again, another bold modification in the design and structure of the eye glass leg. This jewelry enhanced series, "Hand in Hand" symbolizes love and prayer for a peaceful world. The design of the main idea is connected to the many natural pearls. This series of glasses uses bold natural pearls, red sandalwood beads, emeralds, amber, cat's-eye jewelry, and other natural materials, combining beauty and fashion in a perfect way.
