6"x6" or 15.2 x 15.2"cm monoprint. Warm oranges and yellow are built up in the background using multiple layers of ink, followed by my bold poppy design printed in black. One of my favorite aspects of woodblock printing over linoleum is having the woodgrain show. And it shows beautifully in this piece, especially in the poppies breaking up the darkness of the black perfectly. Instead of heavy the black is soft. Printed using only the finest materials including Daniel Smith printmaking ink and Japanese mulberry paper with hand torn edges this piece is a real beauty.
