This is a very fun and festive Christmas necklace! One of a kind, as most of my designs are, but this one is extra unique. I haven't seen anything like it anywhere else, and this is the only necklace I'm making with round ornaments.

There are 5 miniature ornaments. One is a matte green and its 'partner' is matte red. Both matte colors aren't truly matte, they appear to glow from within. There is a shiny gold ornament, and its partner is a shiny silver. And the fifth ornament, in the center, is a matte red with a snowflake design. The design is actually felt, not just painted on.

This necklace is 21 inches (53.5cm) long. It has a barrel clasp. The center ornament hangs just above the breast bone.

Please keep in mind the ornaments are glass. You can't toss them onto your dresser or try and force them to fit in your jewelry box. These are breakable. I've never broken one, but I treat them as though they are full size ornaments, and recommend you do the same.

That said, insurance is required. US customers, this is already included in the shipping charge shown. International customers, I can only add insurance to priority mail packages.

The earliest ornaments in the early 1800's were fruit (particularly apples) and nuts. These, along with the evergreen trees themselves, represented the certainty that life would return in the spring.

Other fruits began to be added, along with paper streamers and bits of shiny metal foil. Whether a tree was lighted or not, the idea of reflecting the light in the room where the tree stood grew in popularity.

Up to now trees had been decorated with the creative efforts of the loving hands of family and friends. In the latter part of the Nineteenth century various German entrepreneurs began to make ornaments that were mass produced and sold strictly as Christmas ornaments.
