This pair of earrings features snowflake obsidian chips dangling from an elegant silver chandelier finding. The gemstone chips are accented by black genuine swarovski crystals. There are three swarovski crystals per earring, and 7 chips per earring.

These earrings have great movement, and the combination of black and silver is very elegant. They will match with everything, and easily go from club to opera. The swarovski crystals add a subtle sparkle, while the obsidian itself has a lovely shine.

These earrings are two and a half inches long, not including the shepherd's hook ear wire. Including the hook, they are three inches long. They are three quarters of an inch wide at their widest.

Snowflake obsidian is actually volcanic glass that has formed as lava quickly cools. Its snowflake appearance is produced by internal crystallites. Also referred to as flowering obsidian, snowflake obsidian is found primarily in Utah. Remember how wonderful it was to be snowed-in? Shut off from the outside world's demands and distractions, you watched the snow quietly fill the world around you. All was well. You felt safe and protected. That's the sense of things snowflake obsidian can give us.


I was looking for a new way to utilize all the strands of gem chips I had. I really like the look of black and silver, and the chips already have splotches of grey on them. It seemed like a perfect match. And though they do not match exactly the obsidian chip necklace, they are similar enough that they go perfect together. But also unique enough to be noticed on their own.
