Built by the Spanish in the 16th century, El Morro Castle and Fortress still remain standing today in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. The fortress met its purpose, to protect the port, and survived many attacks by outside forces. This photograph, El Morro Bolt, exhibits a historic door and ancient lock. You can tell by the shape of the bolt, the Spanish were ready to fight.
