Aleena is a four inch, Made-From-Thread Bear necklace, not counting the tassels on her feet. The necklace strap is 32" long and can be adjusted to a shorter but not longer length. She was crocheted from size 8, pastel pink, Finca perle cotton. Her eyes are hot pink, flat back Swarovski crystals. Her hair is made from vintage (circa 1900) silver lined bugle beads. Her tu tu is two colors of ruffled organza ribbon. The tassels on the bottom of her feet and her necklace strap are an eclectic mix of fresh water pearls, vintage seed and bugle beads and vintage Czech crystals strung on the same pearl cotton from which she is crocheted. Her nose, mouth and eye brows are embroidered from size 8, black Finca pearl cotton.

Aleena is fully jointed with disk and cotter pin wobble joints. Stuffed with polyester fiberfill, she is made to be worn as a necklace. She is a one-of-a-kind teddy bear designed and hand stitched by Shelley K. Bossert of Ursa Minor Miniatures. Like all of my teddy bears, this bear is not a toy and is not intended for small children. Small parts present a choking hazard. This is a piece of jewelry to treasure for a lifetime.

I do not pad my shipping charges but do pass actual costs on to the buyer. ArtFire requires that I pick a number for shipping so I picked the least expensive, slow-boat-to-China rate offered by the United States Postal Service. Secondary shipping charges depend on what else you are purchasing. If you are purchasing more than one item at a time from my studio, please e-mail for shipping charges. If you wish to choose a shipping method other than the USPS to a US address, the cost is more. That said, U.S. or Canadian purchasers may choose the U.S. Postal System, UPS or Fed Ex. but please request a shipping quote before making a purchase.

International purchasers may only use U.S. Global Priority Mail. Costs for Global Priority shipments vary by destination and package weight. Please contact me for a shipping quote before making a purchase. I combine shipping costs automatically.

Insurance is optional but I accept no responsibility for damage to or loss of uninsured shipments.

I was visiting my sister while she was babysitting for her two grandchildren, seven year old Delaney and three year old Joshua. I had just finished crocheting this bear and was setting out my bead box to begin selecting the beads for her neck strap when Joshua and Delaney got up from their naps. Totally entranced by the "sparklies" in my bead box, they insisted on "helping" me. They selected every bead, one by one, and passed each one to me along with instructions on where they should go.

Delaney chose the bugle bead hair and pink eyes. Joshua selected each and every bead in the tassels on Aleena's feet. The neck strap was a collaborative effort between the two. The process kept the two busy for the entire afternoon into the evening. Even their favorite meal of "getties" was not enough to pull their attention from the bead box. It sat on the table while they ate quickly and then we were right back at it till they were happy with the end result.
