Another great find; this is one of my favorites of that dig.

This is a fossilized whelk (spiral) shell. What is special about it is the golden calcite crystals inside of it. This is obviously only a piece of what was a larger whelk shell. That's how I found it!

I really like how this one looks: the way you can see the crystal on the inside curve of the shell, and see the main stem spiral of the original shell. You can also really see how the shell itself has been somewhat crystallized, too, by looking at the spiral stem.

This is a great piece, which I found myself in Ft. Drum, Florida with my little brother. Shells with the golden calcite crystals of this size are cannot be found anywhere else in the world, and the mine they were originally from has now been filled in.

This makes a beautiful display piece, and is especially good as a prop for taking product pictures. The crystals are gorgeous!
