I found this piece during my second dig at the Ft. Drum Crystal Mine.

This is a fossilized clam shell, also known as Mercenaria Permagna. The inside of this clam shell has been filled with golden calcite crystals!

The top shell of the clam was broken off when I found it, leaving a beautiful thin layer of crystals behind. It is very unique looking and pretty. The surface of the crystals is very smooth. It is attached to another clam shell on the bottom, making a great base for the piece.

I found this myself in Ft. Drum, Florida with my little brother. Shells with the golden calcite crystals of this size are cannot be found anywhere else in the world, and the mine they were originally from has now been filled in.

This makes a beautiful display piece, and is especially good as a prop for taking product pictures. The crystals are gorgeous!
