I found this piece during my first dig at the Ft. Drum Crystal Mine.

This is a chunk of golden calcite crystal. Generally, these crystals are found growing on shells in from the mine. This piece probably broke off a shell that it was growing on. Now it's just the crystal, and a little piece of the surrounding minerals.

I found this myself in Ft. Drum, Florida with my little brother. Shells with the golden calcite crystals of this size are cannot be found anywhere else in the world, and the mine they were originally from has now been filled in.

This makes a beautiful display piece, and is especially good as a prop for taking product pictures. The crystals are gorgeous!

I have also heard of people taking the crystals and faceting them for use in jewelry. This is also a good piece for wire-wrapping or incorporating into a jewelry piece because of its small size.
