This rustic, yet elegant bangle is actually created from copper wire that I found in my horse barn. The recycled copper is riveted and then brass wire is twisted around the copper. A patina has been applied to provide contrast between the two metals.

The copper is a very sturdy, but NOT bulky, 10 gauge wire which I riveted together with hand cut brass wire.

The interior dimension of the bangle is 2 and 3/4 inches.

This piece has been throughly sanded and tumble polished, which creates a bangle that is very comfortable to wear.

The adorable, matching earrings are miniature versions of the bangle. The hand formed rounded ear wires are made of solid brass. The ends of the ear wires are sanded smooth and tumbled polished, resulting in no metal fragments to irritate sensitive ear lobes.

Earrings measure just over 2 and 1/4 inches in length from the top of the ear wire. The brass-wrapped hoop measures 1 inch in diameter.

Yes, this bangle set began life as discarded copper wire that I found in our horse barn. (No horses got tangled in any loose wire, it was in an unused stall.) The heft of the 10 gauge wire is perfect for creating a bangle that is sturdy, earthy and yet elegant at the same time. I used a smaller gauge solid brass wire to randomly twist around the bangle. The contrast between the two metals is very eye-catching.
