This pendant opens like a book to reveal the message underneath, which peeks through under a cutout of mountains and a rising (or setting!) moon. A 1" rectangle of 20 gauge (1mm) brass is pierced by hand with an outline of mountains and hammered on the edges. It lies atop a 1" rectangle of 20 gauge sterling silver that is stamped with the John Muir quote -- "The mountains are calling and I must go." The pendant is attached to a 20" rolo chain with extra heavy copper jump rings. All components are sterling silver or pure brass that is oxidized for an aged patina.
