An imported cotton batik featuring delicate cream leafy botanical pattern over washed purple dyes was used for this handmade wallet or clutch purse. The botanical features swirl and curl across the fabric, and no two pieces will be alike.

This Patchtique designed item was hand cut and then sewn on a 1954 Singer Featherweight machine in a studio east of Seattle overlooking the Cascade Mountains. The custom construction and finishing techniques allow for beautiful cotton fabrics to take on a feel and substance similar to soft leather, with an unusual color richness. This is an accessory that you won't be able to find in any store, and the low price makes it easily affordable.

The outer fabric has been glazed with an acrylic frost to protect against moisture and stains. This gives it a smooth, slightly shiny look and finish. Convenient to carry, this clutch combines the vibrancy of a cotton print with a butter soft finish.

The closed measurements are 8"x5", big enough to hold a cellphone, with a little inside pocket for credit card and driver's license. A sturdy heavy duty snap closes it securely. Use as a makeup bag, wallet, or all by itself as a purse when you just need something to grab and go.

Batiks are special fabrics, with a tighter, smoother weave than other cottons. They are hand died in multiple colors, leaving waves of color graduations, unique to each piece.

Elements of nature, such as plants, flowers and animals, are popular batik subjects.

Glazed cotton
