Vintage Nancy Ann Storybook Doll, in Bisque with pudgy body, jointed legs & arms with gold Id tag is in completely original excellent condition.

Thursday's Child had soft wavy blond hair and is wearing a light blue felt hat trimmed with primary color thread loops and 2 bright red cherries and bow.
This vintage Nancy Ann doll has a periwinkle blue dress with tiny white circle polka dots. The bodice of her dress is decorated with loops of thread in the primary colors of red, yellow, blue & green. The full skirt is trimmed with thin ribbons of red, yellow and orange. She has her under slip, pantaloons and painted ballet slipper feet. There is only an overall darkening to her pantaloons. No stains or rips.
She is in really excellent condition. She has the incised markings Storybook Doll USA. I do not think her clothes have been removed. She stands 51/2" tall. Her features are perfectly hand painted and her head is bowed down, as if she is looking downward, but still coyly looking up at you. Her mohair blond curls are still curled, there is a bit of glue on both sides of her face where the hair was once attached more closely but, this does not detract from her condition, the hair still covers it so it is not noticeable at all.

I believe her to be from 1941 because that is when the Id tags were first issued and the jointed legs were used until 1942 when frozen legs were introduced.

She is a perfect doll to start your collection or to give as a gift. What a fabulous surprise she would be in your special collector's Easter basket!

Nancy Ann Storybook Dolls were made by Nancy Abbott and were hand painted. They were very popular with soldiers to buy as gifts for sweethearts and daughters back home. They were originally sold at The Emporium Department store in San Francisco, Ca.
I found her and her sisters at an estate sale and loved their angelic faces and pretty dresses. It is no surprise that they are highly regarded for doll collectors today
