Vintage Shaving Mirror on stand complete with cup and brush holder is an industrial shabby chic vintage treasure! This Victorian Shaving Mirror is late 1800's or early 1900's This versatile Gentleman's shaving stand has a wonderful aged patina that varies in color from rusty brown to black. The base of the stand is decorated in a lily pattern which feels a bit Art Nouveau. The style of this Antique shaving Mirror will blend with so many styles of home decor.

The Antique mirror has a thick wavy scalloped border indicative for this time period. The mirror is framed and swivels completely within its brackets. Beneath the mirror is a clip to hold a shaving soap brush and also a open holder to fit the cup of shaving soap, I was able to fit a Vintage Temporama "On The Rocks" style glass in the holder so you could do the same to actually use this for it's intended purpose. There is an attached clip to hold a lathering brush.

Can you imagine this gracing the dressing table in your boudoir or in the guest bath as a decorative accent? This mirror would be a great collectible gift for the antique lover you could even use it as an accent in the library (picture it on a stack of books) or grouped in a vignette in the family room for all to enjoy. What a splendid Father's Day gift too! This vintage mirror would be great as part of a vignette at a vintage wedding.

This Victorian Era Shaving Mirror Stand has an industrial look with the worn & rusty tone color palate but it also verges on the romantic shabby Paris apartment style which is a hot trend in decorating today.

It is in very good condition, the mirror has some loss of silvering; please see the photos- mostly in the bottom left corner and two spots in the center area. The mirror is remarkably clear, no cloudiness. The frame is sturdy but the backing, which I believe to be a heavy weight cardboard, is a bit warped, it pulls away on the back side edges, which can be seen from the side angle photos. It should also be noted that the bracket that holds the framed mirror is out of square. It pulls a bit to the bottom left; it may be possible to straighten it but I was not willing to try, it does not affect the beauty of this antique Shaving Stand as you can see from the photos. Overall this is a unique Victorian treasure from a time long past.

The mirror stands about 15 inches total height from the base to the top edge of the frame. The actual mirror is about 7 1/8" x 7 1/8". The base is almost 5 inches diameter. The cup or soap holder and brush holder swivels from front to side position and projects about 4.5 inches.

When I discover an item like this I am always curious about the history. Who used it first? A rugged cowboy out West, or a gentleman banker in the East? Did it have a 2nd

life in another family's home? Was it just tucked away in a closet for years until someone decided to sell it? Part of the joy in using antiques & vintage comes from the story behind the item, when you don't know the back story feel free to use your imagination!
