This size 14 vest is made from vintage cotton crepe from 1972 Japan, with a sweeping swallowtail back of bright green satin! A crisp lapel falls from the shoulders, accented in the corners with a piece of white lace. Fully lined, it has a vintage reproduction buckle in the back and soft golden buttons in the front.

The print on the fabric is a variety of floral blooms in beautiful golds, white, teals, blues, and greens. Because of the nature of the crepe, these pieces are flatlined with another layer of cotton, providing them structure and stability to the vest.

Dramatic and fresh, this vest would look great dressing up jeans, a pencil skirt, or just about anything! It brings with it a potent punch of summer and a bright smile of happiness!

This vest was created using fabric from a stack given to me by my sister. Some of them were labeled, some weren't. This particular piece was about 3 yards long, and had a tag that said:

I thought this was very very cool!! I thought about making some form of kimono or hapi coat with it, or a series of handbags or aprons, but I settled on a swallowtail vest because they are dramatic, fun, and fresh! Like the print of the fabric!
