Product Description
BRAND NEW CLAY WORK FROM ME! December 2011, hot from my kiln!

OK I let it cool off! This piece was made from hand-colored porcelain clay. To create this piece, I made up a "batch" of each color by hand mixing the colored stains into a pound of clay, then making layers of the colors into a "loaf".I sliced the clay and laid it out in a plaster plate mold to stiffen. When it was dry, I sanded the clay gently with a steel wool to clean off up the throwing slip and expose the crisp delineation of the colors. .

The piece was then bisque fired to make the first transition from clay to ceramic. Next I put a clear glaze on the piece to provide a non-porous surface for food usage. Then I fired the piece to maturity at cone 6. Absolutely One Of A Kind!

It is suspended from jewelry wire and finished with a copper clasp. You can either hang it from a hook ( not included) or simply wrap the wire around a branch or other object and clip the copper clasp around the wires as shown. About 5" in diameter.

Fill with treats for your feathered neighbors. Wash with soap now and then to keep it clean.

My bluebird family loves these! I hang one next to their nest box, and I put out a tablespoon or so of dried meal worms every day.
