Looking for all the world like a midnight sky, this necklace is approximately 18" long and is composed of blue goldstone and smoky quartz. The pendant is set in sterling silver. Earrings? They're included at no extra cost! Makes a perfect gift!

Goldstone has an interesting history. It is a result of a Middle Ages experiment to turn base metals into gold. Didn't work, of course, but the result is a lovely glass stone with millions of flecks of copper in it. While technically goldstone is a glass, it is generally considered to be a "gemstone" for jewelry purposes, and is cut and polished as if it were a gemstone. Usually goldstone is brown, but more recently blue and even green goldstone can be found on the market. The blue however, is my favorite! I can't help but think of a night sky whenever I see it!
