Silver Filled is a newish material made in the same way as Gold Filled. A small inside core of base metal - copper - is permanently bonded to a thick outer layer of sterling silver. A big step up from plated silver, Silver Filled is not likely to chip, crack or flake off. As with Gold Filled, it should be considered an heirloom metal. Because the materials cost of Silver Filled is much less expensive, I can offer Silver Filled chainmaille pieces to you at a significant savings over solid Sterling.
